Summer Reading Challenge

June 2019

Dear Parent or Guardian,

Summer is here, and the 2019 Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge is underway. Region 6 appreciates your involvement in your child(ren)’s summer reading life.

Participation in the Summer Reading Challenge will support and enhance our ongoing efforts to help every student become a proficient, confident, life-long reader. The program will recognize schools for participation and the number of books read, as well as “Outstanding Public Library-School Partnerships.” Certificates will be awarded to schools with 100 percent student participation, and selected schools will be recognized in a special ceremony. This year’s theme for the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge is “A Universe of Stories.”

Warren School has many of the suggested summer reading titles available through Overdrive’s Sora App which can be accessed through the school’s library website (please see attached sheet with your child’s library number and instructions).

All information, suggested reading lists and materials for the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge can be accessed at:

https://portal.ct.gov/SDE/CTRead/Connecticut-Reads

We also encourage you and your family to visit the Warren Public Library and participate in their Summer Reading Program.

Thank you for supporting this Summer Reading Challenge and for all you do year-round to enrich the lives of your child.

Have a wonderful summer!

Sincerely,

Jennifer Fodor
